The Other Side of the Orchestra – Christmas Concert

18 December, 2016 @ 14:30 - 17:00

Mosman Concert Series biennial

“the Other Side of the Orchestra”

Includes “Arrival of the Queen of Sheeba”, “Elizabethan Serenade”, a movement from Saint-Saens “Piano Quintet in C”, ”the other Side of Camile Saint-Saens”, the composer, who, regarding his “Carnival of the Animals” as a source of “amusement” but of no musical significance and, as such, a danger to his image as a “serious” composer – which would be far from “amusing”  – that this work remain unpublished until after his passing – except for “The Swan”! There seems no doubt that Saint-Saens would have been mortified at the enormous instant success of his suite of musical animals and the popularity with which it has continued to grow for almost a century.

Come and hear Saint-Saens’ delightful “Carnival of the Animals”, played by our own Mosman Concert Series Ensemble of Sydney orchestral musicians, annotated with absolutely new and meaningful words written and presented by Sydney soprano, Clare Heuston.

Take part in our own Music/Movie/TV quiz.

Buy a ticket or three to win one (or maybe more) of 9 great prizes in Mosman Concert Series annual Raffle (drawn during the Interval).

Join us for free Afternoon Tea with a glass of Christmas Cheer at the end of the concert!

Adults $25 / Seniors $20 / Children free
